Nagasaki, with its beautiful cityscape that shows a distinct foreign influence, reflects its history as the city that flourished as the sole trade port when Japan was closed off from rest of the world.
Since this is a city with many, many slopes, use of a charter vehicle or charter bus will come in handy for sightseeing. Nagasaki is also world famous for being the second city where an atomic bomb was dropped after Hiroshima. In the Nagasaki Peace Park, you can see the precise place where the atomic bomb hit (Ground Zero), the Peace Statue, the Fountain of Peace and the Atomic Bomb Museum.
At Dejima, an artificial island built for trade with the West in the 19th century, you can see the historical remains and restored buildings of each era. You can explore the area where Western and Japanese culture came together all those years ago. There is also a commercial facility called Dejima Wharf, where you can enjoy shopping and coffee break at a cafe.
Afterwards, we will go to nearby Chinatown for lunch. The must-try dish is the famous Nagasaki Champon, a noodle dish with lots of vegetables and soft noodles.
In the afternoon, we will visit Koshi-byo, a Confucius Temple built around 130 years ago by Chinese residents of Nagasaki with the support of Qing Dynasty government. It is a mausoleum in authentic Chinese style and now it is a tourist attraction where many come to pray for good luck in their academic studies.
The final stop for the tour is the popular tourist attraction, Glover Garden. The visitors can enjoy some spectacular views overlooking Nagasaki Harbor, in addition to modern Western-style buildings and seasonal plants. You can immerse yourself in the romantic atmosphere of Glover Garden, which was built as residence for British merchant who traded in Nagasaki. Near the entrance of Glover Garden, you will find the World Heritage site and National Treasure, Oura Church. Let’s observe its majestic presence that reflects the long history of Christianity in Japan.
Since most parking spots near Nagasaki’s tourist attractions are full most of the time, use of our charter vehicle is recommended.
