Close to Tokyo, Hakone is a popular hot spring area, known for its magnificent nature that changes its face every season.
Owakudani is a tourist spot with a unique landscape that was formed by a volcano eruption about 3000 years ago. Why don’t you try the “Black Egg”, boiled egg with a completely blackened shell due to hot spring minerals in the water. From Owakudani, you can ride the “Hakone Ropeway” and enjoy vast landscapes such as white steam rising out of Owakudani, hot spring towns scattered in the mountains and Sagami Bay.
During the year you can enjoy beautiful scenery that define each season, such as cherry blossoms (end of March – early April) and fresh greenery in spring, fireworks (August) in summer, crimson foliage (early November) in autumn and Mt. Fuji in the winter. You can finish off your trip to Hakone with a cruise on Lake Ashinoko by a pleasure boat.
